Basic Orientation Plus® Spanish (BOPS)

Course Information

Basic Orientation Plus Spanish (BOPS) is an awareness-level general safety orientation developed by the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) for the Spanish-speaking workers in the construction and contracted maintenance/services industry which qualifies as an OSHA mandated orientation.

NOTE: This class is not reciprocal with the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) and may not be accepted by all facilities

Course Content

Upon completion of this course, the student will have basic knowledge of:

  • Process Safety Management
  • General Employee Safety
  • HAZCOM and GHS
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Electrical Safety
  • Lockout / Tagout
  • Fall Protection
  • Scaffolding
  • Excavations, Trenching and Shoring
  • Job Hazard / Job Safety Analysis
  • Emergency Action Plan
  • Fire Prevention
  • Hazard Awareness, Hazard Abatement, Lead/Radiation/Asbestos Awareness, Materials Handling, and Slips/Trips/Falls are integrated and discussed throughout the program.

NOTE: This program is not meant to provide site location specific, job specific, or OSHA task specific training. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide job specific and task specific training. Additional site-specific training may be required for each facility where work will be performed.

Course Length (approx.): 8 Hours plus Test
Course Expiration: 1 Year from Class Date
Passing Score Required: 70%
Retakes Allowed: Yes, but must pay for each retake
Language: Spanish
Reader Assistance Allowed: Yes, but may not be accepted by all facilities and will not be reciprocal with other ARSC safety councils
ID Requirements: Students must present a valid (not expired) U.S. State or Federal ID with photo and Social Security card if number is not on the ID
