Basic Orientation Plus® (BOP)

Course Information

Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) (ARSC) was developed by the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) as an awareness-level general safety orientation for the construction and contracted maintenance/services industry.

Course Content

Upon completion of this course, the student will have basic knowledge of:

  • Hazard Communications
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Electrical Safety
  • Elevated Work Surfaces
  • Excavations, Trenching and Shoring
  • Process Safety Management
  • Job Safety/Hazard Analysis
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Fire Prevention
  • Hazard Awareness, Hazard Abatement, Lead/Radiation/Asbestos Awareness, Materials Handling, and Slips/Trips/Falls are integrated and discussed throughout the program.

NOTE:

This program is not meant to provide site location specific, job specific, or OSHA task specific training. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide job specific and task specific training. Additional site-specific training may be required for each facility where work will be performed.

Course Expiration: 1 Year from Class Date
Passing Score Required: 70%
Retakes Allowed:
Yes – but must pay for each retake
Language: English
Reader Assistance Allowed: Yes, but may not be accepted by all facilities and will not be reciprocal with other ARSC safety councils
ID Requirements: Students must present a valid (not expired) U.S. State or Federal ID with photo and separate Social Security card if number is not on the ID
